On Saturday I was lucky enough to snag a spot at Well + Good‘s final Surfside Salutation event of the summer. A day of wellness spent at Montauk’s The Surf Lodge and I left happy, relaxed and SORE! Well + Good set up a zen, beach-chic wellness lounge at The Surf Lodge complete with an outdoor workout studio, a C9 by Target pop-up shop, raw food facials and SO much more.
The day started with a bang, literally, as Anna Kaiser, founder of AKT InMotion, led us in a high intensity, dance-cardio workout. I was new to AKT, and as a runner I was pretty confident in my cardio skills, yet I was seriously challenged after one hour with Anna! AKT is a must try for NYC fitness devotees.
Following our workout my friend Alyssa and I immediately made a beeline for the cozy outdoor brunch set up, as our bellies needed some serious re-fueling. Chris Rendell, chef at The Surf Lodge, created a delicious, healthy menu for us, and it was the perfect way to refuel after an intense workout. We had a little bit of a wait during brunch, so we stopped by the C9 pop-up to pick up a pair of workout capris. As someone who normally wears more expensive workout clothing, I have to admit, I was actually impressed with this pair we were gifted! I snipped off the tags and wore them the following day to my Pilates class, and I loved them.
After brunch we went to check out some of the awesome wellness stations and were treated to a raw food facial by Adina Grigore, founder of S.W. Basics. Adina was SO awesome, and it was fun chatting with her about S.W. Basics, which is seriously amazing by the way. I first discovered them 2 years ago when I attended Fitness Magazine’s Fit Blog NYC event, and was gifted a set of their lip balms. GUYS THE CINNAMON IS MY FAVORITE THING EVER. No, really, check them out and tell them I sent you.
After schmoozing with Adina during our facials, we left with smooth skin and waltzed over to EiR NYC’s station. We got to make our own after sun oil, which contains coconut oil, almond oil, aloe, and vitamin e. My DIY after sun oil certainly came in handy on Sunday when I noticed my crazy sports bra sunburn line. Shame on me for not putting on sunscreen until after our workout. Oops. The oil was very soothing on my sun-kissed skin and it smells great!
We ended our day with an hour paddle boarding lesson, which was really fun and WAY easier than it looks, even for a rookie like me! It is actually a really awesome workout, which you’ll certainly realize the following day when your entire back is sore. Not quite sure how I made it through an hour of Pilates on Sunday morning!
