Now that Memorial Day has come and gone summer is officially here. It’s time to start thinking about what your signature summer cocktail is going to be. You know, your go-to order for the summer. The drink that all your friends will be ordering too by the time Labor Day rolls around. I am one step ahead of most of you, and I already know what I’m going to be drinking this summer: my St Germain Elderflower Fizz.
I had my first taste of St Germain liquer a few years ago somewhere between Harlem and FiDi. I can’t remember the exact drink, or where I was, but I clearly remember taking a mental note of what was in it: elderflower liquer. A quick google search brought me to St Germain, and I packaged up my findings in a little corner of my brain where I left them until last summer. One night last July I was out enjoying drinks at a rooftop bar in the city when I spotted a muddled strawberry and elderflower liquer cocktail on the menu. I, of course, ordered it, and this time I made a point to pick up a bottle of St Germain to have around the house. To my surprise, when I found St Germain at a liquor store I was enamored with how beautiful the bottle was! St Germain elderflower liquer is not just delicious in cocktails, but the bottle itself is a beautiful addition to any bar cart or liquor cabinet. I fuse together my elderflower liquer with refreshing, bubbly prosecco, a splash of club soda and frozen raspberries for an extra fizz. This drink is both sweet and refreshing. I love that as the raspberries marry with the prosecco they give the drink a romantic pink tint. This drink is the perfect summer cocktail to enjoy out on a rooftop or to serve at your summer garden party.
